There has always been something fascinating about the allure of Brazilian culture that has caused people from around the world to want to latch on to its magic. When it comes to urban art (commonly referred to as “street” art), Brazil is home to some of the most innovative and inspiring artists to date. The definition of street art, known by some as Graffiti, is “a Form of visual communication involving the unauthorized marking of public space by an individual or group.”

It is true that in cities around the world, many artists have risked delinquency for years in order to display their works. In Brazil, however, authorities stay hushed in light of the cultural value that can be seen in these artistic displays. After having gained recognition in the streets, these artists are quickly translating their works into collectable pieces such as paintings, prints, photos, fashion and more. This new generation of talent has garnered a legion of faithful and surprisingly young followers, and in turn is becoming a focus point in the ever-expanding Latin American art scene.

Graffiti Styles

You can see graffiti in every country in the world. It often defaces walls, poles, trains and the fronts and sides of buildings. Graffiti is considered undesirable vandalism to its victims who spend time and money to paint over or wash it off their property. Indeed, graffiti painting is an ongoing problem in many subway stations and on public walkways, signs, cement walls, and other locations.

However, on the streets of the United Kingdom near London, an artist called Banksy continues to gain international recognition and fame for his graffiti. The fact is that Banksy's "street art" has become immensely popular with both pedestrians and private art collectors alike. In the last several years, there have been a number of exhibitions and auctions of Banksy's art work as his popularity has soared.

Here is some graffiti. Is it ruffiti? Using construction site fences or buildings as his canvasses, one artist paints his dogs for all of Manhattan to see. This artist has been able to paint a lot of things and people who pass by his works are always amazed.

With regard to these portraits, some like them and some do not. His portraits have been included in fashion magazines and the like. There was even a seven city tour one summer on Route 66 because of how successful everything went.

What he wanted was to show off his skills without having to deal with art dealers. He said that if it is alright with you to have to follow the orders of art dealers when it comes to what should be painted, it is up to you. The artist is always dealing from a weak position and to get to a good position, he has to go through stuff like this.

Soon after, he was out one night and wanted to do something new. You will be at awe when you see his works. Each of these dogs are pretty different in their own way. This is an endeavor which he always believed in.

What he resorts to are seven swift strokes whenever he is painting dogs. At that time, he says, he was going to a lot of galleries and got tired of looking at paintings that were so wispy and vague. Only when his dog show began did a lady living down the street from the gallery go to the gallery. Here, she got a $1,500 dog painting that she loved.

Graffiti NYC

Love or hate it but Graffiti is part of the everyday urban world. It’s a fact that Banksy and other well known street artists, who are now household names, have busted the whole urban art scene wide open, brought it forefront into the public’s attention and it seems the room to sit on the fence with an opinion as to whether it is an art-form or vandalism just got a whole lot narrower.

People first started to recognise graffiti as an art form when paint started hitting the NYC subways in the 1970’s and 80’s. Gangs of graffiti artists known as crews began to develop. When competition between the different crews became rife, it meant the quality of graffiti became much more important than just the quantity of it.
